It's almost time! The HLC Site Visit is scheduled for February 13-15, 2012.
Dear Friends,
The process of applying for accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission is both challenging and stimulating. It’s challenging because it demands comprehensive and precise scrutiny of virtually every activity, process and procedure at the College, not to mention reexamination of the mission, vision, and beliefs we share. We welcome the challenge because it is through the process of research, review, and discovery that we find opportunities to become even better than we are today.
The HLC provides highly detailed guidelines for self examination that must be carried out in great detail by all applicants. In preparing this self study we learned a tremendous amount about the breadth and depth of the educational activities of our excellent school, and in this knowledge we found much to be proud of. We believe that McNally Smith’s story is a unique and inspiring one about a higher educational program that develops the intellect, artistry, and talent of our students while also providing them with a solid foundation in practical skills to help them make a life in music.
At McNally Smith College of Music, we believe in education, and the process of seeking accreditation from the HLC is itself an education, which we welcome. We are grateful for this opportunity to review the critically important aspects of providing a fine educational program under the guidance and supervision of academic leaders and administrators from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience. We are certain that our entire community will benefit from this rigorous and rewarding process, and we thank the Higher Learning Commission for sharing their time, experience, and expertise in our continuing quest for excellence.
