The Blues ensemble examines and explores all types of Blues music, From the early 1900’s to contemporary Blues Rock Styles touching on scale, chordal, comping and improvisational patterns from the traditional to experimental. Students will gather an understanding of how the blues has evolved and transitioned into Rhythm and blues. The ensemble also discusses and exemplifies; stage presence, cueing, harmonizing, listening to each other and cross stage communication. The ensemble will be playing our standard venue as well as visiting a blues club and performing.
2013 BLUES ONE ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFO:
- Students will be required to bring in their experience and charts from their blues songs from their contemporary literature class. Stormy Monday, Sweet home Chicago, or any other blues song they may know. Students will be required to show examples of comping, melody and soulful style.
