At McNally Smith College of Music, we know a career in music is both deeply rewarding and demanding. We work with students to help them develop the tools and skills they need to create a successful and scalable life in the arts.
As we ask students to challenge themselves and step into what can be an ever-shifting landscape, we challenge ourselves to extend their educations by creating unique opportunities and real-life experiences to support their endeavors. This might start with a meeting with a career advisor, attending one of our many workshops on topics such as taxes or networking, or working with an internship coordinator to find a the ideal jumping-off point for a life in the arts.
One of the first sure ways to have a fulfilling career is to be as informed as possible. We work with students through a robust series of field trips and seminars to help them better understand the career landscape. From advertising agencies to recording studios, we do our best to provide a varied presentation of what a creative career can look like. In addition, we set up informational interviews to let students get a first-hand account of their projected career paths. We provide industry-sensitive search resources to provide an up-to-date catalog of opportunities.
