Country Ensemble

A study in the performance, listening and rehearsal of the contemporary country music style. Students may choose songs ranging from classic country artist such as Patsy Cline and Hank Williams up through today’s modern artist such as Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.

2013 COUNTRY ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFO:

Vocalist

Vocalist must prepare two songs of their choice. These songs must represent both the classic style and modern style of country. Vocalist will be expected to demonstrate the ability to sing both lead and harmony parts on their selected songs. The ability to play auxiliary instruments such as keys and acoustic guitar is a plus.

Instrumentalist

Instrumentalist must prepare two songs of their choice. These songs must represent both the classic style and modern style of country. Note for note demonstration of fills, licks, and solos is a plus. All lead instruments such as guitar, violin and keys must demonstrate the ability to improvise a solo over a common I-V-vi-VI (one bar each) country chord progression.

All students must bring a recorded track to play along with (original recordings are accepted) or provide a link to YouYube clips.
