Ear Training

This course is designed to engage students in the process of developing their fundamental musical skills. In a progressive and systematic fashion, students develop their skills in vocal sight-reading and learn how to listen to, identify, and notate rhythms, intervals, melodies, chords and chord progressions. The skills in this level are derived from the following materials: root position major and minor triads; the tonic, dominant and subdominant chords; major and minor keys containing up to four sharps or flats; treble and bass clef; relative and parallel keys; simple diatonic intervals; simple rhythms in 4/4, 2/4 and 3/4 time.
