McNally Smith offers music diploma programs in Hip-Hop Studies, Music Performance, Music Business, Music Production, Audio Engineering and Live Sound Engineering.
Hip-Hop Studies (3 semester program)
Our cross-departmental program in Hip-Hop Studies is for hip-hop artists who want to explore and develop their musical gifts. The curriculum emphasizes the necessary skills for a successful career in the music industry including how to create tracks, write and perform lyrics, and recording and mixing your music in a studio. In addition to hands-on technical training, you’ll learn the fundamentals of hip-hop composition, production, and performance. The program includes music business training geared towards hip-hop specific issues.
Music Performance Course (1 year program)
Emphasis: Guitar, Voice, Bass, Percussion, or Keyboard
Students work closely with department professionals to develop their individual potential as musicians, or prepare for an Associate level music degree program.
Music Business Course (1 year program)
The Music Business Diploma Program offers the student fast-paced study of the core music business skills needed to enter the global entertainment industry, or prepare for an Associate level music degree program.
Recording Engineer Course (1 year program)
Emphasis: Engineering, Music Production, or Live Sound
The Recording Engineer Course diplomas include some of the same core topics as our Recording Technology A.A.S. degree without its general education requirements. Live Sound is offered exclusively as a music Diploma Program and covers advanced sound reinforcement, acoustics, and system maintenance.
