This ensemble explores the broad array of styles encompassed by the term Rhythm & Blues, or R&B — anywhere between old school doo-wop to modern hip-hop. Students in the ensemble will transcribe existing recordings by ear. Musicians should be able to feel the grooves and be willing and able to interact with the other performers involved. The focus is on how to rehearse, arrange, and perform these styles.
