Dr. Joomi Park is a composer and pianist performing her pieces throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. Joomi received a Ph.D. in Music Composition from the University of Minnesota in 2010 where she studied with Alex Lubet, a Master’s degree at Boston University in 2007, and Bachelor’s degree at Yonsei University in 2005. Her music was awarded first prize in both the Beethoven Club Composition contest, offered in conjunction with the Belvedere Chamber Music Festival, and the J. Dorfman Memorial Competition, held by ISAM in Germany. She was selected in Alea III’s 30th anniversary season, directed by Theodore Antoniou, as well as “2D2N,” organized by ISCM in Ukraine. Her music was awarded the Wainwright Prize and was performed by Zeitgeist and Renegade Ensemble. She worked as a research assistant for Spark, an electronic music festival, and a graduate instructor in composition and music theory at the University of Minnesota.
