In addition to federal and state grant and student loan funding, students may apply for McNally Smith College of Music Scholarships. Scholarship opportunities are available for current and incoming students. Scholarship amounts are based upon full-time attendance and will be adjusted for students who attend less than full-time.
Scholarships for undergraduates are offered in:- Music Performance (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion, voice, trumpet, saxophone, trombone)
- Recording Technology (music production, recording engineer, live sound)
- Music Business
- Music Composition (songwriting)
General Criteria:
- New applicants and returning students will receive the same consideration in scholarship award decisions.
- Scholarship applicants may be considered for a scholarship other than the scholarship applied for.
- All applicants must meet the requirements of being successfully admitted to the college, including passing auditions and submitting demos, as required by the admission office for that field of study.
Specific Performance, Music Business, Composition, and Recording Technology Scholarship Criteria:
- Results set forth on the audition evaluation (performance or recording technology).
- Academic promise as reflected in grade transcripts, SAT scores and/or ACT scores.
- Answers to essay questions and other responses to application questions.
- Financial need.
- Letters of recommendation.
- Applicant’s record of extracurricular activities.
Application deadlines:
The 2009 - 2010 school year deadline for McNally Smith Scholarships is March 2, 2009. All universal scholarship application submissions must be post-marked by this date. Notification of initial award winners will be in April 2009.
