McNally Smith faculty member, Kristin Sponcia will perform in the second of three faculty performance events Tuesday March 15. The “Live at Five” events are faculty performances that are free and open to the public, McNally Smith students and faculty, and begin — you guessed it — at 5:00 p.m. “Doors open” for a socializing at 5:00 pm, followed by Sponcia’s program at 6:00 p.m.
A talented pianist, vocalist, arranger and composer, Sponcia works often in jazz. For this event, “I am playing piano and singing my own jazz-based compositions and arrangements with Chris Olson (guitar), Graydon Peterson (bass) and Dave Schmalenburger (drums),” notes Sponcia. “There will also be special appearances by Jennifer Parker (vocals) and Phil Mattson (piano). Aside from my compositions, we will be doing non-original tunes ranging from jazz standards to a couple of re-harmonized oldies. It should be great fun for all!”
Formerly known as the “Faculty Performance Series,” the “Live at 5 Performance Series,” takes place every third Tuesday of the month.
