Ricardo Ehramjian, who teaches Production at McNally Smith, still has deep ties to celebrated rocker, Tim Mahoney. As the former drummer in the Tim Mahoney and the Blue Meanies group, Ehramjian recently captured a live session to disc in late May for Mahoney’s latest album, due out in September.
Ehramjian recorded Mahoney at the Sound Gallery Studio with 200 special invited excited guests and ardent fans in the audience. According to one source, the crowd’s exuberance for the set of Mahoney favorites and new material occasionally had to be quieted in order to get a viable recorded performance. Ehramjian also went on to mix the new CD.
It looks like the work is already creating a buzz: The new disc showcased in July on the Cities 97 radio station. And news of the session is currently featured in a two-page spread of the August edition of Metro magazine in its Scene/Seen section.
Quipped the popular magazine, “The intimate performance featured a mix of old and new songs, drinks provided by Skyy Vodka and so much cheering, the noise had from the audience had to be toned down for the album. And did we mention Mahoney gave away a signed guitar? Oh, the envy!”Newer: Dessa Adds Residency To Growing List of Recent Accomplishments: Critically Acclaimed Album Internationally, Nonfiction, Live Performances with Doomtree and Others
