“Just a Girl” is not just for girls, even though it is performed by all girls and all the music as written by girls and was recorded by girls. That may seem like a lot of girl, but it is so much more and you can see it November 19-21 at McNally Smith College of Music Auditorium (19 Exchange Street East, St. Paul, MN 55101). See below for show times. Admission is free.
A multimedia musical cabaret experience, “Just a Girl” features 14 Songs by various female singer songwriters like Gwen Stefani, Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan, Jill Scott, Joni Mitchell, Heart, and more. The show promises to take you on a musical adventure using live music, spoken word and multi-media to try to answer the question, “Who inspires you, and who will you inspire?”
The show was created and directed by McNally Smith Faculty members Erin Schwab, with Musical Direction by Lori Dokken. Its cast includes: Rachel Chalmers, Crystal Shoener, Lauren Verhel, Liz Pugh, Jessica Brant, Ansty Skillingstad, Kara Louden, and Rachel Ammons.
Performed by these eight amazing young women, “this show is for anyone who has looked back to learn how to move forward,” says Schwab. “It’s for anyone who has felt something so strongly it moved them to HAVE to share that feeling — and for anyone who loves great music and great stories!”
• Friday and Saturday, November 19th and 20th, 7:30pm.
