Kudos to Cliff Wittstruck, Dean of Academic Affairs at McNally Smith College of Music. Dean Wittstruck has received a prestigious award while completing his Doctor of Education (EdD) degree at Argosy University, Twin Cities. Recently the Argosy faculty in the Education program nominated and selected Wittstruck to receive the President’s Leadership Award. The award is reserved for one student twice per year (in each program) who is near the end of their on-campus studies and has demonstrated the talents, drive, and initiative to mark them as future leaders in their profession.
Wittstruck has been pursuing The EdD in Educational Leadership, a terminal degree which includes a specific writing, research, and dissertation sequence. Argosy University offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in the fields of Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Education, Business, Health Sciences, Criminal Justice and Liberal Arts, with specialized degree programs in Forensic Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, and more. He received his Argosy award on April 11, 2011, during a special luncheon at the Eagan Community Center.
The Dean also holds a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory of Music. When he isn’t honing his educational chops — or teaching guitar to McNally Smith students — he continues to make music and has a long history of music-making. If you saw Judi Donaghy’s superb Live at 5 gig last month, you caught Wittstruck in action!
During his professional music career, he performed with the R&B group Inside Straight, opening for such nationally-renowned performers as James Brown, Roy Buchanan, Art Garfunkel, Junior Walker and the All Stars, Sam and Dave, the Minnesota Orchestra, and Sun Ra. He also has played with Bernadette Peters, Rupert’s Orchestra, Mick Sterling and the Stud Brothers, and the Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra. His group, Synergy, has toured throughout the U.S., Far East, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Don’t forget to high-five Dr. Wittstruck the next time you see him!Newer: Summer Workshops Return for 2011!
