After several successful gigs in the intimate Sound Bite Café, including Martin Dosh, Mystery Palace, and Motion City Soundtrack, the Sound Bite Series marches on with the latest show: A. Wolf & Her Claws. Fronted by Minneapolis singer-songwriter Aby Wolf, the fledgling vocal/electronic group also includes Jesse Whitney (formerly of Dance Band), Linnea Mohn (Rogue Valley, The Alpha Centauri), and Joey Van Phillips (Mystery Palace, Volcano Insurance). Aby Wolf has been active on the local scene for several years, both as a solo artist — her debut album Sweet Prudence was released to critical acclaim in 2009 — and a member of Dessa’s backing band.
Though the local supergroup has yet to release a recorded work, A. Wolf & Her Claws is already generating buzz around the Twin Cities, and the upcoming Dec. 1 show at McNally Smith will undoubtedly both please and surprise fans of Wolf’s earlier work, as well as newcomers to her sound.
Free tickets will be released exclusively to McNally Smith students on November 23, with the public admitted only when seats are available. Check out the Facebook event page for more details.
General Public: Contact Christian Betancourt to RSVP.
After the concert, visitors can stay for a private Q&A session with the artists, hosted by Dave Campbell of 89.3 The Current. Doors open at 6 p.m. with food and drink specials, with the show kicking off at 7 p.m.
