Congratulations to McNally Smith guitar faculty member Eva Beneke for her recent appearance on American Public Media’s “Performance Today!” A bastion of classical music excellence for over 25 years, Performance Today is the most-listened-to classical music radio show in America with more than 1.3 million weekly listeners on more than 260 stations around the country. Audio of the Performance Today broadcast is available to the right. Click here to read more about Beneke’s performance and interview.
Beneke’s appearance aired on December 20th, hot on the heels of the release of her In Dulci Jublio Christmas album. On the program, Beneke performs three pieces from this tour de force of classical guitar solos and German and American Christmas carols. She also speaks to Performance Today host Fred Child about growing up in socialist East Berlin, where she routinely had to sing altered, secular versions of Christmas carols (depending on which party officials might be in the audience on a given night) during performances of her youth.Newer: McNally Smith’s Speakeasy Series Returns for 2013
