Fall is in the air, and with the crisp weather comes the second installment of Speakeasy Series — a fun, free hang at McNally Smith’s Soundbite Café focused on bringing the Twin Cities arts community together for killer tunes, casual mingling and complimentary coffee, wine and snacks. The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. this Friday, September 21, with a little help from guest DJ Derrick Stevens. Stevens is a producer at 89.3 The Current who has made a long and valuable contribution to the Twin Cities music scene, both on stage and behind the scenes. He is responsible for many of the fine sessions that The Current produces, so expect a great variety of music from his collection—he is well known for his eclectic taste and deep knowledge of the music world.
*Following the Speakeasy, McNally Smith is hosting a thought-provoking event in its atrium called the Accelerometer, which is part concert, part dialogue and part roundtable discussion on the next steps in the technology of making music. Start off the weekend right by attending both events!

More about the MSCM Speakeasy Series:
McNally Smith College of Music is opening its doors and inviting the public to its gorgeous downtown St. Paul campus to take part in the brand new Speakeasy Series—four casual gatherings geared towards bringing the Twin Cities arts community a little bit closer together. Held on a Friday afternoon during each of the next four months, the Speakeasy Series boasts an eclectic mix of guest DJs from the Twin Cities arts community. In addition to impeccable playlists from these fantastic guests, Speakeasy attendees will be treated to complimentary coffee and wine in a laid back and hip environment. So grab a friend and come down, unwind and spend some quality time with your creative-minded neighbors at the end of the workweek. Each Speakeasy takes place from 4-6PM on a Friday in McNally Smith’s own Soundbite Café, located on the third floor of the main campus building.
