McNally Smith is pleased to present its 6th Annual Vocal Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 15 — featuring special guest artists, New York Voices. The festival is a non–competitive event that offers high school vocal jazz groups the opportunity to perform for their peers, receive constructive critique from professional adjudicators, participate in clinics and master classes, and record in McNally Smith’s top-flight studio complex.
Festival participants will be treated to a mid-day master class led by Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble New York Voices, as well as a closing performance from McNally Smith’s own Contemporary Vocal Ensemble. Registered vocal groups will also be able to purchase discounted tickets to New York Voices’ concert with the renowned JazzMN Orchestra at Hopkins High School on Sunday, March 16.
“Vocal Jazz Festival is a fun, interactive and encouraging way for high school vocal groups to show off all their hard work,” says Festival Director Shon Parker. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable experience on stage and in the studio, and to get critical feedback on their performances from professional clinicians and educators — as well as from one another. It’s also a rare chance to see New York Voices — truly world-class contemporary vocal musicians — perform in an intimate environment.”
