McNally Smith College of Music is proud to announce a new international partnership with La Escuela Superior de Audio y Acústica (ES2A) — a music college located in Caracas, Venezuela.
Following a year of planning and communication with ES2A director, José Mujica, McNally Smith Music Production Department Head Christopher Blood and International Student & Program Advisor Kathy Hawks traveled to Caracas this fall to tour the school’s facilities and meet its students. The trip was highly successful, resulting in a new transfer agreement which allows students from ES2A, following completion of their program, to transfer their coursework to McNally Smith in order to pursue an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Audio Engineering or a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Production.
This bridge program is intended to provide an opportunity for audio engineering students from Venezuela to continue their studies in the United States, combining their rich background and experience with a hands-on, well-rounded degree granting education.
This transfer opportunity will help develop students’ creativity and musicianship while giving them the necessary technological skills and credentials to compete in the industry. In addition to classroom experience, students also gain the multicultural communication skills, English language development, and deep global experience that prepare them for future careers in a global music market.
Starting Fall 2017, students will be able to transfer directly to McNally Smith and continue studying where their program at ES2A left off. Students will apply to the program and degree level of their choice, complete the corresponding application steps, and submit official transcripts to the McNally Smith Registrar’s Department to facilitate the credit transfer process.
Admission will require either the submission of a production sample, and entrance exam, or a performance audition video, depending on the program as well as an English language assessment. All students are automatically considered for scholarships upon acceptance and will receive an award determined by the strength of their application.Newer: McNally Smith Hosts FREE Ableton Day: Saturday, February 25 (10am–5pm)
