Coinciding with this weekend’s 16th Annual Twin Cities Jazz Festival, McNally Smith College of Music is honored to host a pair of free, open to the public clinics featuring jazz giants Branford Marsalis and Joe Krown.
Marsalis, one of the world’s most prolific saxophonists (Branford Marsalis Quartet, Sting, The Tonight Show Band), will lead a clinic in the McNally Smith Auditorium at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 27. Marsalis headlines the outdoor Mears Park Main Stage at 8:30 PM later the same evening.
Kown, a Hammond B-3 master and New Orleans institution (Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington), will lead a clinic in the McNally Smith Auditorium at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 28. The Joe Krown Trio with Walter “Wolfman” Washington headlines the tpt Union Depot Outdoor Stage at 7:00 later the same evening.
