Winner of numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, Oklahoma! is the classic American musical that launched the songwriting collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein (The Sound of Music). Set in turn-of-the-century Oklahoma, amidst the high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys, Oklahoma! is the cherished love story of Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl. The musical features such favorite songs as “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “Oh What A Beautiful Mornin’,” and “Surrey With Fringe On Top.”
Under the direction of Erin Schwab and Musical Director Raymond Berg with Choreography by Kevin Werner Hohlstein, this production will have you dancing and singing and saying “YEEEEEEHAAAAAAWWW!” Abound are love stories and fighting, trick roping and murder, and plenty of singing and dancing — there’s a little something for everyone!

About the MSCM Musical Theatre Ensemble:
McNally Smith’s Musical Theater Ensemble stages one full production each semester. Oklahoma! marks the ninth production under the direction of Erin Schwab. Past shows include: Songs For a New World, Godspell, Working, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins, and The Rocky Horror Show. Our production of Godspell was not only performed on site at McNally Smith, but also 2 performances in Big Fork, Minnesota at the beautiful Edge Center for the Arts. Our production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! was performed on site as well as The Raspberry Island Pavilion, The East Side Boys and Girls Club and the Dayton’s Bluff Theater in St. Paul. Productions of Assassins and the Rocky Horror Show were performed at and in cooperation with the History Theatre, an Ivey Award winning theater located on McNally Smith’s campus.
The Ensemble has been growing rapidly and most recently we have been lucky enough to bring on Kevin Werner Hohlstein as Choreographer. Musical Directors for the Ensemble have included Andrew Fleser, Shon Parker, Jennifer Parker, Lori Dokken and most recently Raymond Berg. The talented group of McNally Smith students is led by Erin Schwab, an accomplished vocalist and musical theatre performer with credits that span the globe from cruise ships and amusement parks to professional theatres throughout the Twin Cities. As a musical theatre performer, Erin portrayed Tina in Hey City Theater’s long-running production of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding and was in the first national tour of Schoolhouse Rock Live!. Erin also performs with Jay Fuchs in doing cabaret at local venues such as Hell’s Kitchen, Honey, The Townhouse and The Pour House as well as with the 7 piece corporate band, Metro Jam. Erin was most recently seen in the Ordway Theater’s Broadway Songbook Series, The Music of Stephen Sondheim, Beautiful Thing with Theater Latte Da at the Lab Theater, Cowards Women at the Guthrie Theater, and The Ordway Music Theater’s production of 8 Track; Sounds of the Seventies. She is also a national host for Sing A Long Sound of Music where she rocks some mean lederhosen.
