Power of Music
McNally Smith College of Music recently debuted the Power of Music, a 50-minute multi-media performance that takes the audience inside the world of the music industry and the many careers it has to offer. This inspirational, educational and entertaining presentation features a high-energy mix of live music, video, theatrical elements and audience participation. Developed for high school students who want to learn more about a life in music, the Power of Music is available for performances at McNally Smith's campus, at high schools, and wherever future music industry professionals are ready to get started. The audience is even part of the show, and can download the performance here.
The Band
Featuring recent graduates of McNally Smith College of Music, the 12-piece Power of Music band takes the audience through the sounds of multiple decades in the history of music. These are the sounds that have defined generations and have had the power to shape cultural events.
The Technology
In today's world, cutting-edge technology is one of the most powerful forces in music. This high-tech, multi-media production by award-winning filmmaker Craig Rice showcases how McNally Smith embraces technology and its place in the music business.
You're in The Show!
The Power of Music is not simply about the creative process, it is a creative process. The audience takes part in a recording session during the show, and can download the performance here.
Non-Musicians are Welcome
It's not just singers and instrumentalists who fuel the engine of the music industry. For every musician on stage, there are about 20 music business professionals behind the scenes bringing the music alive. The Power of Music looks at all the different ways one can make a career in music.

Past Vocal Workshop attendees had this to say about the workshop:
I learned an amazing amount just watching J+L work with the rest of the class one-on-on (as much as I did when I was the focus.) Thanks to two incredibly encouraging instructors!
- Ann Potter
This course was the perfect blend of practical experience and music education. I was filled with confidence and learned so much more.
- Julie Schauer
This workshop is a great opportunity to share your talent and get feedback from others, while listening to many different styles of singing. I really enjoyed it.
- Ali Washington
Taking this class gave my self-esteem a lift. Lori and Judi had me face my fears head on and taught me just to go for it.
