Class Registration

Pre-Registration

Students attending McNally Smith College of Music must pre-register each semester for their next semester's classes. Pre-registration is done during Student Advisement Week with the students' Department Head or Advisor. Student Advisement Week happens approximately 10 days after the mid-semester break.

Extra copies of the semester calendar are available at the front desk of the college or, for a list of important calendar dates, call the Enrolled Student Information Line at 651-291-0177, option #7, or 1-800-594-9500, option #7.
Add/Drop Period
After the start of the semester students may add or drop classes without penalty during the Add/Drop period. The add/drop period lasts 10 class days after the start of the semester.   After the add/drop period is over, students may still elect to drop classes but will receive a grade of "W" for withdrawal and will not be issued a refund for the class. To add a class after the add/drop period, students must get the approval of the instructor as well as their Department Head. Add/Drop forms must be completed by the student's Department Head and turned into the Office of the Registrar. Once your add/drop request has been processed a new schedule will be available for pick up at the front desk of the college. Add/Drop requests take 1-2 business days to process.
Class Schedules
New students' schedules are distributed at the beginning of each semester during Orientation. All students will receive a letter in the mail with the time and date of their Orientation. Returning students who miss their orientation can access their schedules through their student SONIS page.
Verification of Enrollment
The Registrar's Office can provide verification of your enrollment at McNally Smith College, as well as other information, such as G.P.A, graduation date, majors, full-time status, etc.
Verification requests must be made in writing, because we need your signature to release your records. If you are currently enrolled, your parent's signature is acceptable.
Fill out the online form (pdf) or pick up the form from the Office of the Registrar. Students normally request us to write a letter, or give us a form to fill out. Requests usually take 2-5 business days to process. You may also fax a signed request to us at 651-291-0366.

Once the Verification request has been processed the letter is either mailed or picked up by the student. At this time we do not offer faxing.
